Willy the Wildcat and many others welcomed Gayle E. Hutchinson back to Chico when she returned to the University in July 2016 as Chico State’s first female president.

It was a homecoming for Dr. Hutchinson, who had built her academic career at Chico as a professor in kinesiology, Academic Senate Chair, and college dean prior to leaving to serve as Provost at CSU, Channel Islands.

President Hutchinson’s priority is to continue to make Chico an inclusive community of excellence, where all students have an opportunity to succeed and thrive academically.
