This course begins with the study of the construction of the single still and moving frame (rhetoric of the image) and then expands into the construction of language between frames (editing: the alignment of frames as a sentence) and finally ends with the use of sound design to counterpoint or support visuals. Every year the course covers a different theme (a genre, a director, a TV series, a specific subject matter as explored in American TV and/or cinema).
