College of Agriculture

Our Mission

The College of Agriculture has a mission to discover, share and disseminate knowledge of integrated agricultural and environmental systems to students, the agricultural community, and society.

For those enrolling in our programs, the College of Agriculture provides students the opportunity to choose challenging careers from among the many professional areas of agricultural sciences. The curriculum offers a combination of humanities and specialized fields in the sciences, technology, and business to ensure a holistic, systems-based approach to career preparation.

All academic programs emphasize a balance of the theoretical and the practical applied approaches to solving complex professional problems. Many courses have laboratory components where applications and experiences complement classroom presentations. In close cooperation with faculty, all of our students are presented with the opportunity to be involved in applied agricultural research directed towards solving problems associated with production agriculture and natural resource management.

In courses and through co-curricular activities associated with the College of Agriculture, students have opportunities to expand their leadership skills. The curriculum is designed to help ensure the graduate’s ability to work successfully with people in social and professional settings.

Graduates are well prepared to enter agricultural careers immediately upon graduation with the bachelor’s degree. They are also prepared for advanced study at the master’s or doctoral level. Contact with appropriate industry and professional associations is a hallmark of the College of Agriculture, as are close associations with alumni, student, and campus activities.
