Student Conduct, Rights, and Responsibilities
Student Conduct, Rights, and Responsibilities supports the mission of the university by promoting a fair and positive learning environment for all students, faculty, and staff. The office advances student development by adjudicating reports regarding student behavioral issues as well as complaints of unfair treatment of students in a timely, consistent, and fair manner.
Through Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, Section 41301, Standards for Student Conduct, as well as system wide policies that ensure due process for each student and guide disciplinary actions, the office investigates and adjudicates reports and referrals regarding alleged violations of the Student Conduct Code.
While much of what the office addresses is related to matters of student conduct, we also help guide students through a process for grieving, of filing a complaint, against staff, faculty, or administrators, who they believe have acted unfairly or unjustly and have treated them in an arbitrary or capricious manner. In addressing such matters, the office follows guidance provided by Executive Memorandum 05-010, Student Grievance Procedures.
Complete versions of all policies and procedures governing and guiding the actions of the office may be reviewed on the Student Conduct, Rights, and Responsibilities website or by visiting our office located in the Student Services Center, Room 190.
