University Advisory Board
The University Advisory Board was established in 1949 by legislation which authorized an advisory board to "encourage more two-way communication between each institution and its constituency." The University Advisory Board acts in an advisory capacity in the development of programs of the institution, interpreting the needs of the community to the institution, and the institution's needs to the community, as well as to legislators and other groups. It is composed of distinguished citizens from throughout the state of California.

Faculty
The Constitution of the Faculty of CSU, Chico provides that the faculty shall consist of the following: professors, associate professors, assistant professors, instructors, lecturers, and coaches. In addition, it includes the president, professional librarians, and student services professionals (academic related).
The constitution further provides that "It shall be the duty and responsibility of the Faculty to formulate, recommend, review, and revise all academic, personnel, and professional policies, including fiscal policies related thereto, broadly and liberally defined." These and other duties and responsibilities are delegated by the faculty to the Academic Senate.

Academic Senate
The Academic Senate consists of thirty-one elected and ten ex-officio faculty members. It exercises those legislative and advisory powers that rest with the faculty. Members, except ex-officio members, are elected as follows: eight members elected at large (two are systemwide senators); twenty-three members distributed among the colleges. Regular elections are held in April or May, as the Executive Committee shall set.

Staff Council
The Staff Council is an organization that allows staff to discuss matters of concern and interest not addressed through collective bargaining. Guests are invited to monthly meetings to inform staff about issues in the University. The council consists of thirty-six elected and three ex-officio members. A slate of officers is elected from within the constituency.
The primary role of Staff Council is to promote positive communication between University staff and the administration, faculty, students, and community. The council also implements programs and projects that are designed to benefit the staff and University. To fulfill this role, the council is involved in special projects including staff scholarships, staff development, on-campus blood drives, the University's Joy of Giving Program, and the Staff Awards Luncheon.

Alumni Association
Founded in 1892, the Alumni Association is an organization of graduates and former students of the University which provides a link between the campus and its alumni. It keeps alumni informed of current developments in the classroom, in continuing education, and of local and national trends in higher education. The Association also provides updates on fellow alumni and former classmates and supports University programs and activities in a variety of ways. These include scholarships, special funding for University projects, and a student emergency loan fund. Alumni volunteers are ready to give their time to the University as needed. The Association also carries on a planned program of alumni chapter meetings throughout the state.

Auxiliary Organizations
The authority for CSU auxiliary organizations and their purposes are derived from the Education Code (Education Code, Section 89900, California Code of Regulations, and in Title 5, Sections 42401-2, 42500). The sole purpose of CSU auxiliaries is to serve the University. As appropriate, auxiliaries must also be responsive to their state and federal corporate nonprofit status. Existing CSU, Chico auxiliaries are the Chico State Enterprises, University Foundation, and Associated Students.
It is CSU, Chico policy that campus auxiliaries exist to support the University's mission and the strategic plan, which implements that mission as determined by the president of the University. Specific obligations of campus auxiliaries are to provide University-approved services and financial support for the mission and strategic plan of the University (EM 98-026).
Associated Students
The Associated Students (AS) is an independent student nonprofit corporation owned and governed by the students under the leadership of an elected board of directors.
In addition to being the student government of the campus, the AS operates the campus Dining Services and facilitates the leasing of the Chico State Bookstore. Although student government operates somewhat independently, it establishes proper channels for student participation in the governance of the University. The AS provides services, facilities, and amenities, and implements a broad spectrum of educational, social, and cultural programs to enrich campus life.

Chico State Enterprises
Chico State Enterprises (formerly the CSU, Chico Research Foundation), a nonprofit corporation, exists to manage a variety of externally funded projects which directly and indirectly support the University's mission and strategic plan. CSE serves as the recipient of all grants and contracts awarded to the University. CSE administers hundreds of projects annually with annual revenues of about $35-$30 million. CSE also provides a vehicle for the University to engage in entrepreneurial and other projects that provide funds, equipment, and other support not otherwise available through the state.

University Foundation
The University Foundation, California State University, Chico, was organized and incorporated as a nonprofit California corporation in 1940 to support activities for the University that otherwise could not be provided through state-supported funds. In 1997 the University Foundation's function became solely philanthropic and as such administers bequests, charitable trusts, special gifts, gift annuities, scholarship, endowments, and donor-advised funds. The University Foundation Administers the University gift endowment program.
