College of Business
Our faculty, staff, academic programs, and extracurricular activities all contribute to developing students that have the skills, knowledge, and dispositions for success. The College of Business at California State University, Chico is one of just 15 percent of all business schools in the world that meet the rigorous standards for accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB International). A variety of services foster student success: an integrated business student advising service, business student tutoring for multiple subject areas, professional development programs, 18 student organizations sponsoring a variety of community service projects and competitions, MBA Collaboration Center, Academic Hosting Center for the SAP University Alliance, Professional Sales Program, the Center for Entrepreneurship, and the Center for Excellence in Finance.
Our Mission
The College of Business embraces the residential nature of our campus to create a learning-centered community that instills in our students the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for both immediate success upon graduation and long-term career achievement. We emphasize applied research and are devoted to continuing the tradition of excellence in our academic programs while developing distinctive initiatives to meet the ever-changing needs of our stakeholders.
Programs
The college’s two undergraduate degrees (120 units) in Business Administration and Business Information Systems require a common core of required courses, option specific courses and electives, culminating in a capstone course on strategic management or strategic issues for information systems professionals.
The B.S. in Business Administration offers seven specialty Options: Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Finance, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing, and Project Management.
The B.S. in Business Information Systems includes two specialty Options: Management Information Systems as well as Operations & Supply Chain Management.
The MBA program (30 units) prepares participants for rewarding managerial positions in any industry. Our MBA program’s streamlined prerequisites foster greater accessibility for graduates from any undergraduate major. Students can pursue a general MBA or specializations in Enterprise Information Systems or Project Management. Students from across campus decide to pursue one of our 11 minors or certificates in order to broaden their skills and job opportunities. Additionally, the college offers minors in International Business, Managing Diversity in Organizations, and Managing for sustainability. Furthermore, students can get a certificate in Professional Sales, Management Consulting or the Professional Accounting Certificate which allows students to work toward the 150 units now required for CPA certification.
